THE PROMISE OF TECHNOLOGY WAS TO MAKE OUR LIVES BETTER….
BUT NOT HAVING THE RIGHT TECHNOLOGY CAN MAKE IT WORSE.
HERE ARE 6 KEY THINGS TO GETTING THE MOST FROM YOUR TECHNOLOGY INVESTMENT
Having visibility into what’s going on, how to make sense of information, and then what to do with that knowledge often feels like it requires an advanced degree. Your systems should come with that level of visibility in an easy to comprehend fashion.
What might be the right amount now, will not be enough when your organization starts to grow. Making sure your systems can scale when you need them to, without a lot of cost and time is essential to maintaining control over your systems.
Specialization creates opportunity to be taken advantage of. As technology gets more complex over time, our tendency is to outsource its control. Making sure the technology is simple for you to use without giving up that control can be a challenge in today’s landscape.
The costs of technology are often hard to determine. It’s well known by now that the cloud is not more cost effective past a couple of years, the cost savings of the cloud are now officially a myth. Making sure you’re benefitting from cloud technology without draining your resources is key.
Support is a a necessary component no matter where your technology infrastructure resides. Whether you have your own servers, or you use the public cloud, you still need people that know the technology to help you when you want something changed, have a problem, or need direction on where to go to solve a key business need.

ARE THESE NUMBERS REAL?
ALLOW US TO EXPLAIN…
Based on the following per user, per month (PUPM) average costs for core industry leading solutions:
- Office Suite – $20
- CRM – $75
- Phone System: $35
- Meetings/Webinars: $15
- HR and Accounting: $10
Depending on the type of organization you are, you can expect to pay an additional 5 to 10 percent overhead on supplementary business technology back-end services such as web hosting, backup services, etc. These are very conservative numbers for what we typically see organizations paying monthly for various public cloud services.
When you outsource your infrastructure, that does not mean you have gotten rid of your need to support that infrastructure. For many smaller organizations, the support costs can be neutral, or often times go up.
You still need IT support. It’s one of those immutable truths when it comes to technology and its many complexities. If you can get by on your own, there are still going to be some things you need additional support for.
The national average for Outsourced tech support, or Managed Service Providers, according to this source, is between $110 and $165 PUPM. We think that is a little high and so we used an average based on the low-end of this survey. The point is, you will need the help of an expert at some point.
End user systems occupy a large price range. The role of the user in the organization will often determine what type of machine is needed. For businesses and organizations here’s a list of typical end user tech that we see in environments and what a typical average cost for each component might look like:
- Laptop – $900
- Mobile Devices- $600
- Printer: $125
- Peripherals: $25
- Warranty: $150
You may find these numbers high or low depending on your organization and end user needs. These are averages from many different types of environments over the past 20 years.
Having good infrastructure includes the services you run and the network you access those services from, as well as having the flexibility to provide essential tools to your end users.
We can help you find opportunities to raise productivity, lower costs, and maintain control over your own environment. At an average cost of $3520 per user, per year you can’t afford not to optimize.
OPTIMIZING YOUR TECHNOLOGY INFRASTRUCTURE IS A NECESSITY!
